It was an honor and a lot of fun to participate in College of Lake County’s “Fear No Art” Festival this April. When the pandemic first hit, my wife Christine was in the middle of choreographing a piece for Fear No Art 2020. Unfortunately it was canceled and while that was absolutely the right decision, it was still very disappointing. But with things going virtual we had an opportunity to do a dance together in the winter show, which was an amazing experience and is something that likely never would have happened in normal times.
For Fear No Art 2021 we collaborated on a Dance/Poetry piece titled “Leave it On”, Christine had her own dance solo titled “Ache” and I performed a piece I had previously written titled “Viral”. It was a big challenge from a graphic design/video editing perspective, but it was a lot of fun to try to bring a different dimension to my poem. While performing on stage is something I always love, I feel like this gave me an opportunity to really think differently about how I wanted to showcase the poem.
